Article One (Name Designation and Operating Authority)

The official name of this body is the LAS VEGAS GAKUEN PARENT ASSOCIATION. This body has been established under the authority of the LAS VEGAS GAKUEN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

Article Two (Mission Statement)

The purpose of this body is to actively contribute to the smooth operation and soundness Las Vegas Gakuen, as well as to foster amity, interaction and mutual understanding between fellow members.

Article Three (Membership Qualifications; Obligations)

1. Parents of children enrolled in Las Vegas Gakuen automatically become members of the parent association and assume responsibility for abiding by its rules. Membership ceases upon studentfs withdrawal from school.
2. Members are obligated to participate in association activities. Members also shall attend the general meetings and vote on necessary measures.
3. Members are obligated to protect privileged information about Las Vegas Gakuen operation as well as the personal information of each member.
4. Membership dues, as listed in Article Four, shall be paid promptly.

Article Four (Membership Dues)

1. Yearly membership dues are $15 per household.
2. The fiscal year commences on April 2, and concludes on April 1, of the following year. The yearfs final accounting and the budget for the ensuing year shall be ratified at general meetings.

Article Five (Executive Directors)

1. Five Executive Directors: a president and four vice-presidents are elected from C5, C6, C7, L300 and L400 classes every year. A self-nominated candidate will be given priority for a position.
2. The term of the executive directors is one year. The executive directors who serve one time do not have to be directors again. The executive directorsf term can be extended at their request.
3. If a president is absent from the school for long period of time or can not complete the term, he/she will be replaced by one of the vice presidents.
4. The Executive Directors may be exempt from help-duty during their term.
5. As deemed necessary, the following posts of coordinators/officers are to be filled by way of election: Bookkeeper, Secretary, Sports day festival coordinator, Tanabata/Setsubun festival coordinator, Librarian, Rewards officer, Supplies officer, Kindergarten snack time assistant, Class mothers. Article Six (General Meetings)

1. The general meetings are the ultimate decision making body for measures being put to a vote. Each member shall be entitled to one vote. Measures pass by majority vote among members in attendance at time of vote.
2. The president shall call a general meeting once at the beginning of the school year, and once again at the end of the year. (However, with the assent of the vice-president, addition general meetings may be called by the president, on an ad hoc basis, as necessary.) @(1) Membersf confirmation to posts; dismissal from posts
@(2) Ratification of school yearfs final accounting and ensuing yearfs budget

3. The meeting may be held as necessary.

Article Seven (ActivitiesEEvents)

All association members must take turns participating in help-duty on a rotating weekly basis. When on help-duty, members must follow the direction of the help-duty leader for that week and carry out assigned duties according to the [TO DO LIST]. In the event that a member is unable to carry out duties on the week of his or her assigned turn, this member must: a) find a fellow association member replacement, and b) keep the officer in charge of assigning help-duty apprised of the situation. Should no replacement be found, or should a member on help-duty fail to show up on the day of duty, a $20 fine payable to the association shall be assessed.
1. As called upon by the school, members shall participate in the Sports Day Festival, school plays, community activities, and school PR efforts. Members shall also contribute to the various activities in order to assure the smooth operation and soundness Las Vegas Gakuen.
2. In addition to the above enumerated goals and functions of the parentsf association, any other efforts necessary to the smooth operation and soundness of the school may be undertaken.

Designated uses of funds:

Events sponsored by the parents association, gifts for graduating students, rewards for students advancing to next level of the Kanji Skills Test Series, awards given out at year-end ceremony, presents for teachers, supplies required by association office holders for their respective posts.

Officers and Duties:

*Five executive Directors (A president and 4 vice-presidents) are elected by among C5, C6, C7, L300 and L400 class every year The term of the Executive directors of the Las Vegas Gakuen Parent Association is one year. Meetings:

Held on first Saturday of each month or as required by circumstances. A genera meeting is held both at the beginning of the school year and one again at the end of the year.

Help-Duty:

*From one to two times each trimester, association members must serve on a rotating basis as volunteer helper, carrying out tasks as specified on the gTo Do List.h
*Any stand-ins for a helper must be arranged by person assigned to duty for that day, and such arrangements must be reported in advance to the help-duty scheduler. Failure to show up for help-duty will result in a $20 fine which will be paid to the individual taking assigned personfs place on short notice.
*The members of help duty team should be aware that their duty begins a week before the assigned date.
*The leader of the help duty team is responsible for having all the members of the help-duty team to take an item (from the list of supplies) home.

The Meeting Room (a.k.a.) gHospitality Roomh:

*This is the room: where parents wait while classes are in session, where meetings are held, where association office holders conduct business, and where general fraternizing between association members can take place. (Those wishing to help pay for the coffee made available can contribute by paying 25 cents per cup.)
*Students are not generally permitted entry to this room without special reason; this includes students dismissed from class at the end of the day.
*If you happen to move any tables, chairs, books, etc., absolutely make certain that you put things back as you found them, particularly checking book numbers and returning them to the exact spot where they had been.

Bulletin Board:

Approval authority for posting items on the bulletin board rests with the PTA resident and the vice-president. Upon obtaining approval, notices may be posted for a maximum of four weeks. Do not post advertisements without obtaining permission. (Ordinarily, permission to advertise is only granted to those having a relationship to Las Vegas Gakuen.)

Drop offs and pick ups:

*For safety purposes, kindergarten, first grade and L100 students must be accompanied to and from their classroom by parents.
*Respect the designated times for picking up your child(ren). If for whatever reason you know that you will be more than 15 minutes late in coming to pick up your child, either call Las Vegas Gakuenf office or arrange to have someone you know come and get your children. In case of the latter, the person coming in your stead assumes responsibility for your child(ren).

Notices of absence, tardiness, early departure from school:

Obtain from the office the specific form for these occasions and, upon filling it out, deliver form to the studentfs teacher. The same applies for long-term absences and absences while temporarily attending school in Japan.

Additional Important Reminders:

*While waiting for the teacher to first arrive in the morning, please donft take your eyes off your child and please try your very best to keep them from touching anything in the classrooms, in hallways, or otherwise on school grounds.
*Whether by individuals or by class as a whole, the giving of gifts to teachers is not permitted. The parent association presents teachers with gifts at the end of the school year.
*When a parent has a matter to discuss with teacher, conduct such discussions on a one-on-one basis.
*Avoid approaching or confronting teacher as a group.
*Adhere to the one-way traffic rule for the parking lot. (Entry is off Arville; exiting is onto Pennwood.) Do not park in areas designated as eNO PARKINGf.
*When holding a conversation with someone in the hallways, keep voices low so as not to be disruptive to classes.
*Outside of school related activities, do not engage in profit-seeking activities at school.

11) Rules parents are expected to have their children comply with

*Do not touch items posted on the school walls or other items belonging to Clark High School.
*Dress Code: Adhere to the dress code of the Clark County School District. Heelys are prohibited.
*Toys, etc.: The bringing of toys to school by students is prohibited(eg. ipod, superballs, tamagotchifs, game cards, or any other small plaything).
*Studentsf cell phones must be turned off during class.
*Food and beverages: With the exception of water, food and beverages are prohibited within the school. If a student must have something to eat or drink, during recess the student may eat or drink inside of a car under the supervision of a parent.
*During Recess:
1) No climbing on trees or poles. Donft pick any leaves, fruits, cones, etc. from any of the trees. Donft throw dirt at the school building. Donft bring any leaves, fruit, etc. which you may have picked up, into the school.
2) Do not enter or exit the school through any door other than the main entrance doors.
3) Unless you have a specific reason to stay in class with your teacher during recess, exit the class and go outside.
4) Do not play in the restrooms.
*Party bags/Goody bags: These may not be passed out in the classroom (incl. on birthdays, Christmas, Valentinefs Day, etc)
